The Amber Alert is a U.S. Department of Justice Program.
AMBER ALERT
America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response
The AMBER Alert Program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement
agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, and the wireless
industry, to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction
cases. The goal of an AMBER Alert is to instantly galvanize the entire
community to assist in the search for and the safe recovery of the
child. (SOURCE: U.S. Department of Justice, Amber Alert)
The Amber Alert is solely a program of the United States Government
Department of Justice. The program began in 1996, and has successful
recovered hundreds of missing children. In order for an Amber Alert
to be issued, certain criteria must be met; most importantly parents
must have critical data and descriptive information of the missing
child readily available for law enforcement. The DNA LifePrint Child
Safety Program provides parents with this critical information.
The Amber Alert Program is a very powerful and successful tool in
safely recovering missing children. We encourage parents to become
familiar with this Department of Justice Program.
